Who am I?
I am Mathijs van Lisdonk from Tilburg, The Netherlands. I love to photograph birds in their natural environment. Besides that I just like point my camera at things that stand out to me or I just find beautiful. Above all , the experience of being out in nature and meet new people is what makes this passion for photography more than just a hobby.
The hen harriers are back
The Netherlands doesn’t have a big number of breeding pairs of this beautiful bird. They used to breed here in quite big number but unfortunately due to intensive agriculture the numbers have been in rapid decline. However a decent number of birds come her to spend the winter and it is such a treat to see them hunt with so much grace, almost like a dance.
England autumn 2024
It has become some sort of a tradition to visit Great Britain once a year. England has a great and very accomodating birding scene and some great places to go for gannets, puffins and many other beatiful species
Florida Spring 2024
One of my biggest photography dreams was photographing ospreys in Florida. It was an amazing trip with great company and lots of birds
Short Eared Owls
This winter has been an amazing year with many short eared owls. Since they are very opportunistic travellers they just go where the food is and it is very unpredictable where they will show up. They seemed to be everywhere this winter which of course was an absolute treat for us photographers
